I Spy Room

This room is for our youngest "Villagers", beginning at 18 months until 24 months. In this room, we concentrate on potty training, social skills, gross motor skills, and sensory play. This age group naps from 12:30pm to 3:00pm.
Tumbling Twos Room

This room is for children from 24 - 36 months of age. The curriculum in this room focuses on social skills, gross motor skills, color and shape recognition as well as beginning letter and number sounds. We provide reading, art projects, group and individual activities in addition to the Montessori curriculum. This age group naps from 12:30PM to approximately 3:00PM. We also assist in potty training for children who have not yet mastered this skill.
Winker Room

This is our 3 year old room. The curriculum for this age group helps prepare the children for our Rising 4 room, reinforcing the skills learned in the Tumbling Twos room. In addition to those skills, they begin to introduce number and letter recognition and concentrate more on fine motor skills. They will learn such skills as how to cut and how to hold a pencil, as well as name recognition. They also introduce the concept of the calendar and we teach cultural awareness and science. They still take naps from 12:30PM to approximately 3:00PM. Children in this class are expected to be potty trained.
Rising 4 Room

The curriculum in this class builds upon the previous rooms, all with an eye to preparing the children for the Pre-K classroom. All the children in this room must be 3 1/2 year to 4 years old, completely potty trained and ready to give up naps. This classroom will concentrate more on letter and number recognition and writing, and we teach cultural awareness and science. They will build upon their fine motor skills and begin writing their names and do more classroom oriented group activities. The children will NOT take naps in this room in order to help ease the transition into the Pre-K classroom.
Pre - K Room

This is our preschool room for children 4 - 5 years of age who will be going to Kindergarten the following year. Our main focus in this room is on Kindergarten readiness. They will be building further on the skills learned in the previous rooms, and will now learn how to write the letters and make the connection between letter sounds and words. They will begin simple math concepts as well as a broader understanding of the world around them with cultural awareness, science, music and geography lessons. You can track the progress made by your child through progress reports you receive at the beginning of the year and in the spring. Children should leave this room with all the tools needed to excel in Kindergarten and beyond.
School Age Care

This service is provided for children between the ages of 5 and 12 years who are enrolled in public school. We offer before and after school care as well as transportation to and/or from many Cheyenne schools. Please see the Director for a complete list of schools. We offer homework assistance as well as all-day care during in-service days and many school holidays. During Spring break, Christmas break and the summer months, we offer many fun activities and field trips for the youngsters.

"The secret of good teaching is to regard the child's intelligence as a fertile field in which seeds may be sown, to grow under the heat of flaming imagination."

-Maria Montessori

Director’s Memorandum

Dear Parents,

So hard to believe a school year has already come to an end. I hope all your children had a good year and are now all excited to get started on some much deserved summer fun! The classes have loads of fun educational trips and projects planned for your child. Please remember to look out for permission slips in your child’s room; we are unable to take any child unless a parent signs his or her permission for us to take them. Also hang those schedules where you can find them so you always know what’s happening in your child’s room.

We will be having another family event this time for our Dad’s. We will be having our”Donuts for Dads “celebration on Friday June18th from 10-11. Please come join us for the fun and all are welcome to attend, even our Dad’s. ( ha ha!)

We have our annual Denver Trips all scheduled for this summer. Our first one will be on Wednesday, June 16th, to the Museum of Nature and Science. These trips are only available to our Rising 4’s, Pre-K and our Older Kids classes. There are 37 seats available on the coach that we will be taking to get there, and they do fill up very quickly. I will be putting in your parent pockets shortly, the permission slips and information about it. In order for your child to attend these trips, we will need the form filled in and returned, along with payment for the trip. The cost of the trip will be $30.  This will include the coach transportation, snacks, drinks and lunch, entry fee and this year we will be taking the children to the planetarium for a show. This is why the fee is a bit higher than last year.  We will not be able to hold a spot for your child without the form and fee paid. We also need at least 5 parent volunteers to help us make this trip run smoothly. In the past parents have always enjoyed the trip and were a tremendous help to the teachers.

In your tuition statements for this month, (Pre-ks, Rising 4’s and Older kids classes), I have added the Summer Movie Series at the Capitol theater fee*$8.00. I have also included the price for pop/popcorn for just the month.  (Each month will be about $10)

On a sad note, I like to say a fond farewell to Ms Niqole, our office /floater teacher. She will be leaving the school at the end of May. I wish her much luck and she will be sadly missed. And on a brighter note we have a new I Spy room teacher! You may have already seen her in the room, she is Ms Jennifer! She comes to us   with lots of childcare experience and as well as being a mother of three youngsters.  Welcome Ms Jennifer.

A FEW SUMMER REMINDERS:

  • On the podium we have a petition about the Church lease for the school. If you  can please spare time to read and sign it, this will be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time.
  • Please be sure to check that you have signed all the permissions slips for the month.
  • Please remember those water bottles and sunscreen no less than factor 50 (**spray type preferred**). These are vital items that are needed to keep your child protected and healthy. Please be sure you have them.
  • Hats for our little ones ( I Spy and Tumbling Twos Room) to keep them protected
  • No flip flops for our walking field trips PLEASE. These fall off the child’s feet and cause injury. Sneakers, tennis shoes, ect are better for walks.
  • Field trips are a privilege not a right. If your child does not listen and follow directions in the classroom, we cannot risk the chance that they may cause injury to themselves or others. I do hope you understand that we all want safe and happy summer trips for all our children here.
  • Keep your child’s activity account up to date. Anything that is under $5 in the child’s account means they will not be able to attend the trip until it is replenished. The teachers will give you weekly updates so you are aware.
  • With the activity accounts:  please keep the tuition separate from the activity money. Reason being, it helps us keep better track to what’s in your activity account. I am sorry if this cause’s inconvenience to you, but it does keep our records straight to what is going where.
  • Just an advance notice that the school will be closed Monday July 5th , in honor of Independence Day.
  •  Our Board meeting will be on Tuesday June 22nd at 5:30

As always any questions, comments or complaints you may have, feel free to come in and talk to me about it. We are always here for you and your child and welcome anything that may benefit the teachers and the school.

Thank you all and have a Happy Fathers Day!
Ms. TERESA
